Google’s Bard AI is opening up with mixed reviews

You can’t stop the Internet from coming up with all sorts of interesting ways to test the chatbot. Below we’ve rounded up a few interesting chat’s we saw today.

Send us your examples on Twitter – we’d love to showcase some!

Starting with this one. It seems basic that it should be able to do basic functions, but we don’t think Bard will be doing any JavaScript functions.

This one was great – this person asked how long it will take before Google Bard is shut down. Guess it already is as of today?? 😂

But what about passing the Turing test (a test for intelligence in a computer, requiring that a human being should be unable to distinguish the machine from another human being by using the replies to questions put to both).

Nope… let’s not let Bard be in charge of the nuclear codes.

We tested Bard today ourselves and it was clearly making facts up that it had access to on the Internet. It even cited the incorrect facts several times.

When asked what the score was of the WBC (World Baseball Classic) championship game, it said it was 0-0 in the top of the 4th.

It was the 7th inning at the time of asking this question.

By the top of the 4th inning, there was a score of 1-3 USA/JPN.

To be fair, this product is brand-new for Google and it will take time to work out its kinks. We did love the user interface itself. It is very clean and seems to keep a session better than ChatGPT. We’ll keep our eyes on developments here and keep you posted.

NVIDIA to Bring AI to Every Industry, CEO Says

CEO Jensen Huang gave a 78 minute keynote speech today at the NVIDIA GTC developer conference about a variety of topics ranging from medical advances to a cloud service to power Microsoft’s “Omniverse”.

Here’s the speech TL;DR:

  • Iphone moment: The CEO mentioned that AI is having its “iPhone” moment right now with the evidence of ChatGPT’s astronomical growth in mainstream attracting over 100 million users.
  • NVIDIA’s H100 GPUs: A bunch of enterprises are using NVIDIA’s H100 GPUs for their AI infrastructure (Oracle, AWS, Microsoft, Meta, OpenAI, Google Cloud, Lambda, and more).
  • NVIDIA AI Foundations announced to accelerate generative AI work.
    • NVIDIA NeMo: building custom language text-to-text generative models
    • Picasso: visual language model-making service for custom models with licensed or proprietary content
    • BioNeMo: aiding researchers in the drug discovery industry
    • Partnerships with Adobe, Getty Images, and Shutterstock.
  • Omniverse: NVIDIA partnering with Microsoft for NVIDIA Omniverse Cloud, a fully managed cloud service. This Omniverse to hundreds of millions of Microsoft 365 and Azure users
  • Digitizing $3 Trillion Auto Industry: by 2030, auto manufacturers will build 300 factories to make 200 million electric vehicles. Huang mentioned “digitization will enhance the industry’s efficiency, productivity, and speed.”

OpenAI-powered app from Microsoft will instantly transcribe patient notes during doctor visits (CNBC)

TL;DR:

  • Microsoft and Nuance Communications announce Dragon Ambient eXperience (DAX) Express, an AI-powered clinical notes application for healthcare workers
  • DAX Express reduces administrative burdens by automatically generating clinical notes draft within seconds after patient visit
  • Powered by ambient AI, forming insights from unstructured data, and OpenAI’s GPT-4
  • Aims to help physicians focus on patient care and reduce time spent on administrative tasks
  • DAX Express available in private preview capacity this summer, wider availability dependent on initial user feedback
  • Physicians can edit and sign off on notes before they are entered into electronic health records
  • Improved patient and physician experiences through more direct communication

Excited to see what this technology brings to the medical field. This seems like a great use case.
